So why am I telling you that you should start stockpiling an emergency supply of food, water, and other necessities when you can just drive down to the corner grocery store and pick them up when you need them?
Well, what if you could not go to those local corner store? What if those local corner grocery stores suddenly were not there, or could not open because they had no electricity?
What if you lost your job and couldn't find work for a month or two? What if you were driving down the road today and were injured in an accident which forced you out of work for the next 6 months or year?
Look at the economic recession of the 20's and the Wall Street Crashes in 1929, 1987, 2008 and the devastating financial impact those had on families everywhere.
What about in 2016 when rioters were causing so much trouble in parts of North Carolina after the election that the Governor had to briefly declare Martial Law. In many areas, it may not have been safe for you to go outside and run down to the store to pick up a gallon of milk. Remember the LA Riots back in 1992?
Just this year we have had riots in Washington D.C.; Charlottesville, Virginia; 3 separate riots in Berkley, California; Anaheim, California; and the May Day Riots in Portland and Olympia.
Look at the recent situation in Flint, Michigan
Look at Hurricanes Andrew, Charlie, Harvey, Hugo, Iniki, Irma, and Katrina. All either category 4 or 5 hurricanes to hit the U.S. in recent years.
Look at the mass power outages caused by Super Storm Sandy, or the North East Blackout of 2013, the Western North America Blackouts of 1996, the Southwest Blackout of 2011, or the Derecho Blackout of 2012.
Or what about the Blizzard of 1993, the Blizzard of 1996, the Blizzard of 2005, "Snowmageddon" in 2010, the Groundhog Day Blizzard in 2011, the Buffalo Blizzard in 2014, and the most recent Winter Storm Jonas in 2016.
Many of those huge power outages have taken weeks to get fixed and get the power restored.
If the power was knocked out in your city for 2 or 3 weeks, how would you survive? If suddenly you received 30 inches of snowfall overnight in a massive blizzard and the entire region suddenly came to a grinding halt - what would your family eat?
These supplies are not only used for a Complete Civilization Collapse - SHTF - Zombie Apocalypse.
All of the storms and situations that I mentioned were a definite SHTF situation for those people.
