#57 - Syrian Airstrikes Have Begun
Airstrikes against targets inside Syria by the United States, United Kingdom, and France have begun. Both ships and aircraft were used in the attack.
The US, UK and France launched coordinated strikes in Syria, hitting targets associated with the Syrian regime's chemical weapons program.
President Trump is now in Washington DC waiting to see if there will be retaliation from Russia and Iran. Russia has stated that if missile strikes against Syria are carried out, the missiles will be shot down and they will target the launch sites.
Ground explosions are reportedly being heard from within Syria leading to speculation that some, if not all of the missiles launched made it to their intended targets.
The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) investigators were scheduled to start their investigation into the alleged chemical attack by the Syrian government tomorrow, April 14th. This missile strike was clearly planned to keep them from being able to perform their investigation and provide evidence if Syria launched chemical weapons on their citizens or not.
I think launching this strike, especially now, was a major mistake. Only someone who wanted to ensure that evidence of the alleged chemical weapons attack last Saturday were never uncovered would launch a strike mere hours before the OPCW investigators were scheduled to start working in Syria.
Russia states that British agents were behind the alleged chemical attack. When this claim was first made by Russia I did not believe it however, it appears to have more validity now that the UK has decided to join in the airstrikes against Syria before an investigation can be conducted.
We can only hope and pray that Russia and Iran limit their response to the battlefield and do not launch missiles against the territorial United States or any of its allied countries which has the potential to start World War 3.
